Although help is available for a diverse range of difficult changes that can occur in a person’s life, I have a special interest and lived experience in transitioning to retirement and adjusting to life after a major health change.

I’m Vicki, a qualified counsellor with many years of experience supporting people through change. I am dedicated to helping and guiding others to navigate the obstacles that come with life changes to achieve better health, wellness and happiness in their lives.

I love helping people who are going through a major life change and are feeling stuck but are ready to take practical steps to be empowered to move forward.

If you feel stuck and lay awake at night worrying, it’s time to invest in your well-being and happiness.

Our well-being is the most important thing in life and experiencing a difficult life change or transition can be extremely challenging and overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone.

While change is both inevitable and important for growth, it can also be deeply uncomfortable especially if it is unexpected, feels involuntary, or out of our control. A major life change can cause significant stress that can affect a person’s ability to cope with daily life. This stress can manifest into anxiety, depression, or headaches and can cause sleeping and eating problems or other problematic behaviours that over time will impact a person’s wellbeing and happiness.

The good news is that help is available at Hopeful Light to get you through the toughest of life transitions.

If you are ready to learn, I can teach you how to become unstuck while supporting you to work through your concerns, figure out what is important to you, plan how to move towards the life you want and provide the tools and support you need to take the steps to get there.

Your sessions with me will be tailored to your personal needs and goals, and the strategies and practical tools I offer will help you to:

  • Understand what’s going on for you

  • Become aware of changes you want or need to make

  • Learn about structured problem-solving and help you explore new solutions

  • Make the necessary changes whilst being supported along the way

  • Challenge your belief system and adjust your mindset

  • Resolve communication issues and set boundaries

  • Practice mindfulness and breathing techniques to manage any stress, anxiety and difficult emotions

  • Implement self-care and self-compassion into your life

By working with me, you will be able to deal with your life change successfully and become stronger, more confident and better prepared for what comes next in life.

How we work together.

I believe that YOU are are the expert in your own life and have the capacity to make decisions about the changes you need to make. However, there are times in our life when it can be highly beneficial to sit with someone who can listen free of judgement, provide you with the tools to unlock your full potential and guide you through a life change to achieve the life you desire.

As a counsellor who has experienced major life and health challenges, I have deep empathy and a genuine desire to help you overcome your struggles and live the life you want.

I will walk beside you throughout your journey and help you find your own path through any deeply uncertain, emotional terrain you may be experiencing to move through your life change quicker and achieve the outcomes you want.

What we do

We start by getting to know each other to build rapport and trust. Then we work through the following:

  • Listen to your story and talk through your concerns

  • Work out your goals and what’s important to you

  • Identify possible solutions and strategies

  • Agree on the steps required to achieve your goals

  • Identity what support you will need to get through your journey

How we do it

I share practical tools and evidence-based techniques that teach you how to:

  • Manage stress and anxiety

  • Discover new ways to problem-solve

  • Create and implement a plan that works for you

  • Make good decisions based on your goals and values

  • Use the tools and resources to become a more resilient and confident person

Both in-person and online counselling is available with me, a culturally sensitive bilingual counsellor who speaks English and also Greek.

I welcome NDIS participants and offer services to clients in Mount Waverley and surrounding suburbs.
